Inspiration for this shoe comes from 1940’s English Military Officer Dress Loafers. In the 1940s, English military officers commonly wore dress loafers as part of their formal attire. These shoes were typically made from high-quality leather and featured a plain, unadorned design that was both elegant and understated. Usually presented in a dark brown or black color they had a low, stacked heel that provided a sleek, refined look and their high-quality construction ensured that they would last for years.

Our Director, Yuki Matsuda loved the classic styling of the vintage shoe, but thought, “What if I made a version of this shoe for the Summer?” The David Summer Shoe was born!

The uppers are hand cut and hand-lasted from the most beautiful full grain, flesh-out Tosca leather from Opera Leather tanned in Toscana, Italy. The tanning process for Tosca leather involves turning the leather inside out, which creates a unique texture and finish. The outer surface of the leather has a soft, suede-like texture, while the inside retains the smooth and durable grain side.

Opera Leather's flesh-out Tosca leather is known for its high quality, durability, and natural beauty. It is often used in the production of high-end leather products, such as shoes, bags, and jackets. The unique texture and finish of Tosca leather make it a popular choice among those looking for a luxurious and distinctive leather.

But what makes this a Summer Shoe? We added cutouts! Decorative cutouts are aesthetically pleasing and give the shoe a sophisticated charm while letting your feet breathe. The adjustable strap makes this formal shoe a little more casual for everyday wear and you have the Yuketen David Summer Shoe! We added a leather outsole to keep things sophisticated and a thick, vegetable tanned insole for comfort.
