Canoe Moc with Camp Sole - FO Indigo

The Canoe Moc’s 360 degree lacing, hand-sewn baseball stitch and omission of decorative eyelets form its identity. This lacing technique is borrowed from the lacing method used by veteran river and stream guides for improved adjustability on 360 degree lace-through loafer shoes to provide a more secure fit than traditional lacing.

Each pair of Yuketen’s American-made genuine moccasin-construction footwear is hand-sewn by leather artisans in the northeastern United States who have mastered their craft through decades of experience. The hand-sewing technique applied to Yuketen’s Canoe Moc style is fondly referred to as the “baseball stitch” because it resembles the cross-hatch seams of a baseball.  The baseball stitch hand-sewing technique is more difficult and time-consuming than the traditional hand-sewn technique but yields a striking visual pattern along the toe box of each moccasin.

The Canoe Moc also features Horween’s Chromexcel leather, expertly tanned in U.S.A. Chromexcel leather is particularly suitable for moccasin construction footwear because the double tanning process (combination chrome tanning and vegetable tanning) produces luxurious malleable pull-up leather with rich pleasantly aromatic liquor notes.

Although the Canoe Moc is one of Yuketen’s lower-profile silhouettes, it still enjoys the structural benefits of a vegetable-tanned leather tuck and steel shank. These components form a stable bridge along the arch of the foot, distributing weight more evenly across the footbed for increased comfort. The shoe’s upper sits atop a 100% natural rubber Boat Sole which is sewn to the vamp leather, allowing the shoes to be resoled for years of prolonged wear.
