As one of Yuketen’s most challenging handsewn moccasins, the Stream Moc Ox is a testament to the incomparable capability of Yuketen’s handsewers. Built from select cuts of supple Horween Chromexcel leather tanned in the U.S.A., each shoe is hand-punched and stitched with awl, needle, and thread on Yuketen's proprietary last by handsewers working in our Maine factory. The base of the vamp has been cinched to create an integumentary fit, while the dexterous skill by which our handsewers 'gather' leather ensures the secure stitching of every shoe. Chromexcel is a buttery, malleable 'pull-up' leather born of a unique double-tanning process of vegetable and chrome treatments, which imbues the leather with pleasantly aromatic liquor notes. Its suppleness, revealing of lighter tones in its oiled surface when stretched, makes it particularly suitable for moccasin construction.
The Stream Moc’s gentle curves mimic the streamlined edges of America’s classic cars. Full-leather insoles, elongated leather tucks, and steel shank reinforcements increase fitting in the arch and heel as well as lessen foot fatigue by forming a stable bridge between the heel and ball of the owner's foot. Our Yuketen signature tucks are also made from 100% vegetable-tanned leather and will naturally accommodate the distinct shape of the wearer.
A sport crepe outsole - modeled on classic running shoe soles - is directly attached to a natural-crepe midsole. Made in the U.S.A. from 100% natural crepe, this double pairing provides superb shock absorption and an incredibly soft and slip-resistant tread, ensuring sustained comfort in sprinting long city blocks or travelling afoot down dusty country roads.
