The Antler Moc’s distinct features; Elk Antler embellishment, 360 degree lacing and hand-sewn baseball stitch, form its identity. The shoe omits decorative eyelets while instead offering 360 degree leather lacing adjustability for a snug fit. This lacing technique is borrowed from the lacing method used by veteran river and stream guides for improved adjustability on 360 degree lace-through loafer shoes to provide a more secure fit than is offered by traditional lacing.
Each pair of Yuketen’s American-made genuine moccasin-construction footwear is hand-sewn by leather artisans in the northeastern United States who have mastered their craft through decades of experience. The hand-sewing technique applied to Yuketen’s Antler Moc style is fondly referred to as the “baseball stitch” because it resembles the cross-hatch seams of a baseball. The baseball stitch hand-sewing technique is more difficult and time-consuming than the traditional hand-sewn technique but results in a striking visual pattern along the toe box of the moccasin.
Although the Antler Moc is one of Yuketen’s lower-profile silhouettes, it still enjoys the structural benefits of a vegetable-tanned leather tuck and steel shank. These components form a stable bridge along the arch of the foot, distributing weight more evenly across the footbed for increased comfort. The shoe’s upper sits atop a 100% natural rubber Camp Sole which is sewn to the vamp leather, allowing the shoes to be resoled for years of prolonged wear.
